A stump cut flush is still a stump. We grind below grade so the ground is level, the regrowth stops, and you are not steering a mower around it every week.
Most stump work people call about is one of two jobs. Either a single stump in the yard that is in the way of a mower, a fence, or a patio, or a whole line of them left over after a clearing job. We handle both, and the answer is the same either way: grind it below grade so it does not sprout back and does not surface again after a wet spring.
Cutting a stump flush is faster and cheaper and it is also temporary. The root crown is still there, hardwoods will send up shoots, and the stump settles as it rots so you end up with a low spot to fill two years later. Grinding takes the crown out.
You choose what happens to the grindings. We can haul them off, or rake them back into the hole and top it with soil if you are planning to seed over it. Tell us which before we start and we will plan the day around it.
